Solving crimes in âCSI: Holy Landâ and fillÂing in the blanks to âEye of the Tebowâ paid off for Drake (â94) and Christina (Adelseck, â95) Levasheff last fall when they won $140,000 and the title of tournament chamÂpions on the first season of The American Bible Challenge. The Levasheffs, along with their friend Dean Bobar, used their knowledge of the Bible to beat out 17 other teams and win the top prize on the Game Show Networkâs trivia show in October. As âTeam JudÂsonâs Legacy,â the trio was competing to raise money for charity in memory of the Levasheffsâ son, who passed away in 2007.
âIt was an awesome experience,â Christina Levasheff said. âWe went into it a little hesitant. We had turned down the opportunity a few times because they had approached us before and they knew our story. But we had the best experience. It was incredible, but it was also honoring to Godâs word.â
Initially, 18 teams, all competing for different charities, battled head-to-head in creatively titled rounds that tested their knowledge of the Bible. In the âFaithbookâ round, host Jeff Foxworthy asked contesÂtants to identify what social media update belonged to a certain Bible character. In the âEye of the Tebowâ round, contestants were asked to fill in the blanks to Bible verses that NFL quarterback Tim Tebow wrote under his eyes during his college years, and it was during one of those rounds that Christina Levasheff was reminded of the reason why she was competing on the show.
âFor the âEye of the Tebowâ questions I buzzed in to answer the fill-in-the-blank question and it was John 16:33,â she said. âThat was a passage that meant the most to me after the loss of my son.â
Team Judsonâs Legacy competed on the game show for the sole purpose of carrying on the memory of the Levasheffâs son, Judson, who passed away just before his third birthday due to the incurable Krabbe disease. The team hoped to win the prize money for the Hunter James Kelly Research Institute.
âAll we really cared about was Judsonâs legacy; the game for us was secondary, but God was using that to give us a platform for this,â Christina said. âI was very much aware that we would not be standing on that stage if it was not for the life of our son. It was a joyful experience but the pain was there too. ⊠It was redemptive to see God pour his favor on us in that way.â
